In order to make your moving and storing experience less stressful, please consider the following:
- Contact us so that we may provide you with a free quote outlining our competitive rates, or stop by one of our facilities and reserve the right storage space for your valuables.
- When moving make sure you send out change of address notices.
- Make a reservation with a reputable moving service or reserve a truck.
- Label the contents of each box for easy reference while in storage.
- When packing work in sections or pack from room to room. Try and use no more than 3-4 different size boxes.
- Carefully pack your fragile items to avoid breakage. Wrap fragile items individually. Pack paper into the bottom, top and empty spaces of the carton. You can also use packing peanuts for added protection.
- Papers can be stored in file boxes or small boxes. Books should be packed flat in smaller boxes due to their weight.
- Pack pillows, sofa cushions and soft items in garbage bags to protect against dust.
- Wardrobe boxes allow you to store your clothing on hangers. Shoes can also be stored in the bottom of the wardrobe box.
- When disassembling furniture items have the proper tools, be sure to label things for future reference and keep screws or bolts taped to items.
- Do not pack clothing into dresser drawers as this may cause damage when moving furniture.
- All our units are between 8 and 10 feet tall - make the most of your space by stacking items.
- Cover any furniture items with old bed sheets, towels or blankets to protect them, or purchase furniture blankets for superior protection.
- Remember to keep refrigerator doors slightly ajar. Place an open box of baking soda in your refrigerator to keep it fresh.
- Most sofas can be stored on end if it's for short term in order to maximize your space. Build a strong base using dressers and furniture and work your way up with lighter items.
- Use picture boxes to store mirrors and pictures, and be sure to label them as fragile.
- Store the items that you will use frequently at the front of the storage unit where you can access them easily.
- Do not store any perishables or flammables.
- Keep your storage lease agreement, access code and keys in a safe place.
